Its official, as of this November, Star Wars: The Old Republic will transition to a hybrid F2P business model. Here is what we know so far. Players will be able to stay subscribed and enjoy the game as it exists right now plus any new content or choose the free 2 play option with some limitations. The largest of these limitations seems to be the limit on the number of Warzones & Flashpoints a player can complete as well as no access to Operations (Raids).
There will also be other smaller limitations on number of listings in the auction house, login priority, travel features & space mission.
In order to keep existing players interested in the game, SWTOR will be introducing some new content between now and this fall. These will include new Operation: Terror From Beyond, new Warzone: Ancient Hypergate, HK-51 Assassin Droid Companion, 10 new space missions. Exisitng subscribers will also earn more Cartel Coins that can be used to purchase items from the new ingame store.
